I was always the pretty chubby girl. It never bothered me because I always stuck to the Psalms passage of how I am 'fearfully and wonderfully made' (lol). But I was a yoyo dieter and my diets never last longer than 3 months. My new years resolution was to finally lose weight, but after a few months with no results, I gave up yet again. I tried again in May with a 90day weight loss challenge at church, but our church suffered a great loss with both our spiritual parents, the amount of eating you do at funerals meant good bye 90day challenge. On a trip to Samoa to visit my nana the pin finally dropped. I sprained by back and spent most of my trip indoors. My nana asked me, “Is your weight the reason why your back is like that?” and it was quickly followed up with “Who is going to carry your box when you are done here?”. I knew I needed to change. I registered for FITLIFE without knowing what I was signing up for. My first session was a mission. I remember feeling like I wanted to jump back in the car and go home. I looked around me and saw others like me, and realised if they could do it, I could do it too. By the end of 6 weeks I had lost weight and signed up for another 3 rounds of FITLIFE. I have learnt more than fitness drills, the nutritional advice and word of the day have been so encouraging and the dedication and support from the trainers never goes unoticed. My journey is still in progress, but I have so much knowledge and support to keep at it.

A big thank you for giving us such an AWESOME challenge. We're only half-way there, but the changes I've noticed so far are beyond words! What I love the most about this challenge, is you guys make it so interesting and fun for everyone with so much variety and passion in every session, pushing us higher and higher. As you can see on your attendance list, I have not missed one single session since it started. That's testament to how much I love this!
Once upon a time I couldn't jog for 3 minutes, now I can actually run a whole 30 mins non-stop and more. I love going for daily jogs now, I have also been adding in weekly Zumba classes plus, swimming with friends who are also on the challenge. I feel so much stronger and healthier these days, and just want to be up and about doing things, instead of coming home straight after work and just sitting in front of the TV for the rest of the night like I used to (with chocolate or a bag of chips!). My family is also starting to eat healthy alongside me, and our meals are seeing a lot more veges and salads. You are truly inspirational to us all, by giving of your time and talents to helping us become better people it just makes me want to go out there and pay it forward to others. Hence why I keep having friends wanting to join up 'cause I can't stop ranting and raving about how awesome this change is.

I have been attending D65 Bootcamp for around 2 years now. I found it difficult over the years to find an exercise regime that I enjoyed, gyms did nothing for me and never challenged me. Once I joined D65 Bootcamp I knew it was going to be a challenge right from the first night. I struggled to finish the work out. But, what stood out for me was the support from John and the other bootcampers in assisting me in improving myself and to reach my goals. Instead of giving up I felt supported and challenged every time I attended. I didn’t have an issue with my weight but, an internal challenge with my brain telling me “you can’t do that” or “its too hard, give up”. I now have the attitude where I take on each challenge, even to the point of pushing myself to just do one more push up or run a bit faster, feel the challenge go with it and enjoy the process. I found a person in the group who also challenged me. This gave me an incentive to perform well and gave me a taste of not only competing with myself, but finding a competitor within the group to always keep an eye on. D65 Fitness has made a difference to my attitude to exercise, nutrition and living a healthier lifestyle. I moved to New Zealand from the USA and my cousin told me about a fitness programme he was joining that really helped him to be in shape and to eat better. I joined because I just wanted to get out of the house, it wasn't a great goal, but it got me to COMMIT2FIT. As the training went on, I realised I wanted to look good in my clothes, be stronger physically and emotionally, and, be encouraged spiritually. My weight loss goal was to go from my 8?kg to be below 75kg. The sessions were amazing. Before COMMIT2FIT I hadn't done any intense workouts, but here, every workout was intense and targeted different areas of the body. As my journey went on I grew to love it and noticed my endurance was also improving. We had our sessions in John and Fiona's studio, The Green Room, it is a nice, private space. Fee is the best trainer, and when we train, its on, there is no mucking around. I worked hard for Fee to be proud of me and see that all her encouragement didn't go to waste. When I joined the programme I was so glum, so blah, but now I am fit and healthy and follow the D65 clean eating guidelines. I have lost more than 7kgs and am happy to say I reached my goal of being under 75kg. If you're someone thinking about joining a fitness programme, stop thinking and join COMMIT2FIT, it really does get results and is amazingly worth it.

FITLIFE is changing my life. Before finding this program I was too embarrassed to join a bootcamp. Too embarrassed I would be the fattest, slowest and most unfit. But from day one John and his team have made me feel comfortable, the trainers are encouraging and make sure I give it all I have every morning. John shares great food tips and advise, helping us to live healthier lifestyles. My goal was to attend every session and I haven't missed a morning, that's because I am motivated and encouraged by the team and my fellow bootcampers. At my heaviest I weighed 176kg. I had everyone telling me about my obesity, but I just didn’t want to listen. Soon enough though, I realised I had neglected my body for such a long time, and that it was time to make a change. I started my journey in 2011 at FITLIFE. I was getting fitter, stronger, eating healthier and shedding weight I have been carrying my whole life. The progress gave me the motivation to also go back to the gym. I started to feel good about myself and gain a lot more confidence. I am 29 years of age and now sitting at 87kgs. I have lost 89kgs to date with my goal in sight. I have learnt that this is a lifestyle, it’s about making changes for the better and living life to the fullest. I would like to encourage and challenge those who are battling obesity to start somewhere, make small changes and go from there. Set a goal and to never give up, because you can do anything if you set your mind to it. If I can do it then so can you! I am having the best time at FITLIFE, even though it almost kills me :) I love to exercise and, being in an environment where there is no judgement means that I can actually feel comfortable exercising.

Throughout my life I have battled with my weight. It would constantly go up and down, not just by 5kgs a time, but by 20kg and 40kg a time. I don't remember ever being the same weight for more than 3 months. My knee and ankle injuries couldn't cope carrying around all that weight and I was slowly running out of clothes in my wardrobe. I knew at-home personal training worked for me once, having a trainer come to my house gave me no excuses not to turn up for a session, so I was on the lookout for someone to help me on the journey, yet again. Finding the right personal trainer is key and from the start John challenged me, pushed me, and never let me give up. He constantly supports me, analyses my weekly food diaries, guides and inspires me, shares motivation on my low days and celebrates with high fives on my good days. The D65 Fitness philosophy has given me a healthier relationship with food and i've learnt how to make my body strong, but more importantly, make my mind stronger. Adding D65 Bootcamp to the mix and participating with my husband has intensified my training and, showed me I can do things I never thought I was capable of. Im only halfway into this journey, my ultimate goal is to get that 40kg off and keep it off. With what I have learnt through D65 Fitness, I know it is a lifestyle I can maintain for the long term and not fall back into old habits. Having lost 17kg so far, I know I will get there, and John and Fee will be right there beside me, 100% of the way.

I have been having personal training with John for over a year. This has been a life changing event for me as it is the longest I have ever continued with a fitness programme.
I have been overweight most of my life and, with a back injury, I don’t enjoy physical exercise. But now I can say I have lost a little, and even though the weight coming off is hard John is always patient , encouraging and supportive of me, never giving up on me especially when I am not diligent about food diaries. I can say I look forward to the sessions and I am amazed at my level of fitness now, achieving activities I never thought possible e.g pushups from the ground, running slowly , lifting weights. I have been to so many boot camps, gyms, and to be honest, this is so far THE BEST of them all! I love boxing and have found the monday boxing classes to be amazing. The comradery, friendships and family we have made within the 8 weeks gives me a lot more motivation to turn up, knowing i'll be training with my workmates. I am a very busy mum, finding the time to workout is hard, having a trainer like John come to our workplace twice a week takes all the excuses out of not exercising.
